20 Years of Tarantino

This Christmas, writer/director Quentin Tarantino will unveil his latest flick, Django Unchained, a sure-to-be violent and stylized western, with a groovy soundtrack.

Tarantino is also celebrating 20 years in the industry with a Blu-ray set commemorating the event, and both his debut work, Reservoir Dogs (1992), and his masterpiece, Pulp Fiction (1994), re-releasing in theaters.  Each film was like a shot of cinema adrenaline upon its initial opening, and has since been endlessly studied and copied.

Tarantino is known more for quality than quantity, turning out only eight pictures (two of which are actually one movie, split into separate parts) in two decades.  However, a new release from the former video store clerk and film aficionado is always an event.  With his combination of flawless dialogue, eclectic music, nonlinear storytelling, humanized criminals, and heightened violence, he has carved himself a place as one of the most visionary of modern filmmakers.

His other work includes:   Jackie Brown (1997), Kill Bill: Volume 1 (2003), Kill Bill: Volume 2 (2004), Death Proof (2007), and Inglourious Basterds (2009).  All are available in our catalog, and every second is worth your time.
