Mesa County Libraries

Where Did You Come From?

If you’ve always been interested in answering that question, but haven’t yet found the resources or time to climb your family tree – start at the Library! We have helpful resources – including books, websites, databases, and more – and instructional classes as well. Next Wednesday, the 23rd, is our Intro to Genealogy Research computer class. Registration is required – follow the link to sign up! The class requires basic computer and Internet skills, but is meant for the genealogy research novice. We’ll cover things like Census research, vital documents, and finding obituary/cemetery information. It’s also a great introduction to all the resources the Library offers, including our Ancestry subscription.

Once you’re inspired to start researching on your own, meet with members of the Mesa County Genealogy Society. Genealogy Society members will be at the Central Library on Friday, February 1st at 1:00 pm, and will help people one-on-one with their specific queries. We also encourage registration for this event. Follow the link to sign-up, or call 970-243-4442 to register for either event.
