Work continues on the Central Library Project, which will expand and improve the library district’s largest facility at Fifth Street and Grand Avenue in Grand Junction. No corner of the building is untouched by the project. Erection of the steel frame for the fiction/reading room and community room along Grand Avenue is almost complete, and new framing is finished throughout most of the existing building. Although the extremely cold weather of January slowed work a bit, the project remains on schedule for completion this spring. If all goes as planned, the Central Library will reopen in late spring. Here are some new construction photos, as well as some older pictures from the project’s early stages.
