Mesa County Libraries

One Book Committee is Busy Reading!

Our One Book, One Mesa County annual events take place in March. Believe it or not, our One Book Committee, made up of both Library staff and community volunteers, start all over again with our search and review process about a month or two later. Our committee members spend all summer searching for a book that will be a great fit for our community. We look for a book that will expand the community’s reading interest and choose a title based on its literary merit, potential for wonderful discussions and rich programming, as well as the availability of the author to visit and present here in Grand Junction.

We have reviewed over 35 titles so far and are starting to hone in on some titles that we collectively agree have great potential for our event. We review both fiction and non-fiction titles on a variety of topics and by authors of varying backgrounds. Some authors are well known while others are debut writers. We all greatly enjoy reading some of the best, mostly contemporary titles out there, and we look forward to sharing our selection with you later this fall.

Always excited when the “One Book” book is chosen. It goes on my must read for the year.
