Free Comic Book Day set for Saturday, May 7, at all Mesa County Libraries

Free Comic Book Day logo 2016 -edFree Comic Book Day, a nationwide event at participating libraries and comic book shops, will be celebrated Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Mesa County Libraries locations.

Patrons of all ages may pick up a free comic book at any library location during regular hours on May 7.

At the Central Library in downtown Grand Junction, special activities will take place from noon-2 p.m. May 7. Make comic book magnets, learn to draw superheroes, and take a photo with a Stormtrooper from the 501st Legion (bring your own camera).

Comic books are an original American art form and have entertained generations of readers. New titles are constantly joining old favorites in the comic-book world, and Free Comic Book Day is a way of encouraging readers of all ages to discover – or rediscover – this unique storytelling medium.
