Free Comic Book Day

Free Comic Book Day logo 2016 -edCome in to any Mesa County Library location during regular hours on Saturday, May 7th, for a free comic book! Free Comic Book Day is a national event and is a way of encouraging readers of all ages to discover – or rediscover – this unique storytelling medium. Libraries and comic book shops (including Grand Junction’s own Top Five Comic Shop) all over the country will be giving away comics to anyone who wants one. Mesa County Libraries will have comics for every age, so everyone is welcome. The Central library will also host a special event from 12 – 2pm, during which kids can make superhero magnets, learn to draw superheroes, and meet a Stormtrooper!

In other super-news, the library will have a table at the Comic Talk 616 Cosplay-Dance Party at Canyon View Park  on Friday, May 6th, from 4 – 6:30pm. This event is hosted by the local podcast Comic Talk 616 as a way to celebrate the release of the new movie, Captain America Civil War. There will be a costume contest, prizes, food trucks, and a live DJ. The event is free for all ages. All you need is a costume and your dancing shoes!
