Lynda service through Mesa County Libraries may end Dec. 31

1/27/2020 UPDATE:  Access to Lynda has been extended. For details, see this post.

Lynda logoLynda, a popular educational eResource, may no longer be available through Mesa County Libraries as soon as Dec. 31, 2019.

The library’s decision to potentially end Lynda’s availability is the result of privacy concerns with Lynda’s acquisition by LinkedIn, a professional networking social media site. Earlier this year, the company announced that it plans to require library users of Lynda to create LinkedIn accounts to continue using the resource.

That proposed change was problematic for libraries from a patron-privacy standpoint. In Mesa County Libraries’ case, we are continuing to work with LinkedIn to find a solution that meets our privacy and technological concerns. In the event that a solution cannot be found, Lynda availability through Mesa County Libraries will end.

We urge Lynda users to prepare for the possible change by finishing any classes you have in progress, and then downloading and printing all of your certificates by Dec. 31. Once library availability ends, library staff will no longer be able to help you retrieve anything from your Lynda account.

Patrons wishing to contact Lynda about the issue may do so here.

Patrons seeking alternatives to Lynda are invited to visit any Mesa County Libraries location for professional librarian assistance. We welcome the opportunity to help.

  1. Making a LinkedIn account is NOT a problem for me or for the many patrons who can benefit from this service. I have learned so much with Lynda. Please don’t take it away. This isn’t something you can easily replace for folks
