Library now offers hoopla®, providing more access to movies, ebooks, and more

Mesa County Libraries cardholders now have access to hoopla®, an on-demand streaming service that offers more than 950,000 titles in the form of ebooks, eAudiobooks, movies, TV shows, music, and comics.

Content on hoopla can be streamed from any compatible computer, mobile device, or platform by downloading the hoopla app for iOS, Android, AppleTV, Fire TV, Chromecast, or Roku.

What’s awesome about hoopla? For starters:

  • Content is always available, without any holds or wait times.
  • Content is available on a wide variety of devices.
  • Content is downloadable on tablets and phones, so it is accessible later if there isn’t access to Wifi.
  • More than 80% of hoopla’s movie and television content can’t be found on competing streaming services, so the offerings are unique.

Hoopla is available starting Feb. 17 to anyone with a valid Mesa County Libraries card. Patrons will be limited to eight hoopla checkouts per calendar month. To start using hoopla, visit the hoopla tab on our Downloadable Media Guide.

“We are thrilled to offer hoopla to our patrons,” said Michelle Boisvenue-Fox, director of Mesa County Libraries. “The ebook and eAudiobook offerings through hoopla will help more patrons access materials without having to wait for them. Of course, the movies will be popular, and we also think many patrons will enjoy the music and comics that hoopla offers.”

Libby and OverDrive, the ebook and eAudiobook platforms that library patrons are accustomed to using, will remain available. In addition, the library will continue to offer streaming movies through Kanopy, a service available to library cardholders that offers a diverse collection of more than 30,000 films. Library patrons get 10 Kanopy checkouts per month, plus unlimited access to Kanopy Kids. Hoopla joins the robust collection of eResources that Mesa County Libraries already offer, giving library cardholders even more content to choose from.
