Exhibitors and panel ideas sought for MCL Comic Con

Applications for exhibitor space at the 2021 Mesa County Libraries Comic Con are now being accepted, as are ideas and proposals for panel discussions and presentations.

MCL Comic Con 2021 is set for 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Grand Junction Convention Center, 159 Main St. in downtown Grand Junction.

EXHIBITORS

Exhibitor space gives artists, craft makers, and others an opportunity to show and sell their comic-related work. Only exhibitors with products or services relating to comic books, comic art, pop culture, science fiction, fantasy, anime, books, graphic novels, and movies are eligible to exhibit. No adult materials may be displayed or sold, as MCL Comic Con is a family event.

Two types of spaces are available: tables and booths. For prices and exhibitor application information, please visit mesacountylibraries.org/comiccon. Exhibitor space is limited, so prompt application is encouraged.

PANEL PROPOSALS

A popular part of every MCL Comic Con is the lineup of panel discussions, activities, and presentations. We are looking for great panels covering just about any Comic Con topic you can imagine. Some examples include comics, anime, sci-fi, fantasy, games, representation, cosplay, literature, film making, and art demonstrations.

Only a limited number of programs will be accepted, and panel applicants are asked to develop, research, and plan their idea carefully and professionally. All panels must be 60 minutes in length.

Panel proposals are due by July 31. For more information about panels and submissions, please visit mesacountylibraries.org/comiccon

CALL FOR ART

In addition, art by local artists is being sought for display in the Mesa County Libraries Comic Con Juried Art Show, which will take place Aug. 20-Oct. 21 at the Central Library, 443 N. 6th St. Artwork should be appropriate for all ages and follow the spirit of Comic Con, which highlights graphic literature, sequential art, and comics as literary medium. Fan art is welcome.

Entry deadline is 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2. Entries will be accepted online only. Eligibility guidelines, rules, and the submission form can be found at mesacountylibraries.org/comicconart
