Voted most likely to travel the Blue Highways

Reading takes me places I’ll never go, stretches the boundaries of my mind and soul, delights, comforts and surprises me. I enjoy biographies and what I call “personal” nonfiction that focuses on a person or event such as The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, or The Destiny of the Republic. I dream of traveling the world, so can get totally immersed in travel memoirs whether the “anything that can go wrong will” Queen of the Road: The True Tale of 47 States, 22,000 miles, 200 shoes, 2 cats, 1 poodle, a Husband, and a Bus with a Will of its Own, or the more adventurous It’s Not About the Tapas: A Spanish Adventure on Two Wheels. I love being transported to places and times rich with sounds, colors, tastes and textures outside of my everyday experiences.

Historical fiction, mysteries of all types, some horror and “tongue in cheek” science fiction/fantasy comprise what I call my “popcorn” reading: once I get started, I find it difficult to stop!

When I’m not reading (and when, exactly, is that?), I enjoy dabbling with aromatherapy, experimenting with handmade soaps, gardening and watching hummingbirds. I also like getting outdoors and enjoy a good hike, bike or difficult jeep trail; keeping an eye out for wildlife, flowers, petroglyphs and dinosaur tracks along the way.
