EXPECTATIONS
By signing this Performance Confirmation, you (the Performer) agree to deliver a performance and meet the following expectations of Mesa County Libraries (the Library):
- Performance will start on time (see “Performance Time” above) and last a full 30 minutes. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time.
- Performer will give brief descriptions as appropriate between acts to describe cultural/historical significance of performance songs, dances, clothing, etc. in an entertaining and educational way.
- Performer will engage and involve the audience, giving them opportunities to participate. This works best toward the end of the performance. (Examples: teach dance steps or drum beats to everyone)
HONORARIUM
A check for a $200 honorarium to the Performer will be provided on the event day.
PARKING
The loading/unloading zone for equipment and performers is the circular loop of the west parking lot of the Library, which faces 5th Street. After unloading, please park in any available parking space.
DRESSING ROOM
The Library will provide a space in the Central Library for groups to use as a dressing room before and after the performance time. The group can use the space to dress, prepare, and leave personal belongings. People accompanying the group may stay there. Please do not use public restrooms to dress, prepare, and leave belongings. The restrooms are very busy with visitors that day.
EQUIPMENT AND MUSIC
The Library will have a microphone available to use for speaking and an A/V system to play music during the performance. The Library’s Technical Services staff will manage the A/V system for you—the Performer—but music files must be on a USB flash drive or a CD. Music on streaming services such as Spotify, Apple Music, or Pandora, or handing staff a phone or tablet, are not acceptable—Library staff cannot be expected to manage logins, passwords, lock screens, etc. Ideally, designate one group member to discuss music management (order of tracks or other instructions) with Library staff during the break prior to your performance.
PROMOTION AND PUBLICITY
Culture Fest is one of Mesa County Libraries’ largest events and is widely publicized in local newspapers, on flyers and posters, on the radio, and on the Library’s website and social media. The Library will provide publicity for the Performer before and after the event. Performer must supply to the Library, in a timely manner, any promotional information such as logos, photographs, text, and video.
PHOTO/VIDEO/RECORDING CONSENT
Performer agrees to give permission to Mesa County Libraries to use, copy, modify, adapt, distribute, and/or publish Performer images, voices, and/or names obtained by MCL before, during, and after performances at Culture Fest for the purposes of advertising, publicity, and inclusion in the Library’s permanent collection of library materials available to the public. This authorization and consent extends to websites, television, social media, print materials, digital media, and all other forms of media and communication, including the Library’s digital content library. Performer agrees that the Library will own all rights to copy, modify, adapt, distribute, and/or publish materials in any media containing Performer images, voices, and/or names, and Performer will have no rights in the same. Mesa County Libraries considers Performer Representative’s signature to be consent for the group.
