At the Central Library, we are shifting some of your favorite items within the children’s center. Movies, graphic novels, audio books, new chapter books, and world language materials are now spruced up and in new locations. A handful of staff members and volunteers are helping this go very smoothly.
It all started when the children’s reference desk moved away from the story time area to open space for large programs a few months ago. This caused us to look at making items easier to find and fit better, so we calculated shelf space, penciled it out, and went to work.
Observing patterns of behavior, we also notice a large audience of independent users—reading, studying, tutoring and meeting friends. There is more open space now—for the after-school crowd and families to hang out comfortably together.
New furniture is trickling in, and folks are already enjoying it planned. Come check it out and let us know what you think!
