Artists: Don’t miss this unique opportunity!

Local artists looking for a unique opportunity have one more week to submit their applications for 2019 Artist in Residence slots at the Mesa County Libraries 970West Studio.

Artists 18 and older who live in Mesa County may apply, and residencies are available to artists at all stages in their careers. Artists in a wide variety of media are eligible, including drawing, painting, fiber arts, sculpture, photography, video, music, fiction and nonfiction writing, and poetry.

Selected artists will receive a $500 stipend from the Mesa County Libraries Foundation.

The Artist in Residence program is a unique opportunity because selected artists may use studio space inside the 970West Studio building at Fifth Street and Ouray Avenue, and they’ll have opportunities to teach and conduct public workshops and presentations about their art. A residency is an excellent opportunity to showcase your art to the local community through displays, workshops, and presentations.

Artists who have participated in the program the past two years say their residencies helped them develop professionally and gave them opportunities to create new, unique work. Their residencies and the workshops they hosted also introduced them to fun and fascinating people in the community and gave them the rewarding experience of showing and teaching skills to interested patrons.

Three residency slots are available in 2019: Jan. 14-April 22, May 6-Aug. 12, and Aug. 26-Dec. 2.
