Do your children love to read? Do they enjoy talking about what they’re reading? If so, Kids Read book club might be the right fit for them!
Kids Read: Choose Your Own Book is a weekly book club for children ages 6-11. We meet every Tuesday from 4:30pm to 5:00pm in the Monument Community Room at the Central library, or children can attend virtually through our Google Meetup.
Aside from reading their choice of books to discuss at Kids Read, attendees have the option to select pre-published books sent to the library from book publishers throughout the country. These books are not found on any library shelf or in any bookstore yet, so children who attend Kids Read will be the first to get their hands on forthcoming books and even write reviews about them.
At Kids Read we like to wrap up our time by writing a Mad Lib together. Here’s a fun one we generated a few weeks ago about Kids Read:
Today at Kids Read 8 Rins attended. We skipped what we were reading and how we cartwheeled the books. We all tossed cyan books to read so there was lots of variety. Collectively, members read books about projectors, demons, libraries, rainbows, dogs, Claras, and posters. We also had a chance to read books that are not on the library toads yet, books that are barfed to the library by flowers for us to swim first and talk reviews. It was so silly!
We hope to see your readers at Kids Read!
