On July 11, the Clifton Branch Library held the inaugural Clifton Community Art Show reception. This reception celebrated the artists who submitted artwork to the Clifton Community Art Show and specially honored the winners of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards. We are excited to showcase artwork inspired by the Clifton area!
There were 25 images submitted that showed how local artists viewed Clifton. Due to space constraints, 13 of these images made it to the wall in the Clifton Branch. The staff at the Clifton Branch Library chose the top three artworks from these finalists.
- 1st Place: Karla Roxanne Oglesby – photograph titled Autumn Geese
- 2nd Place: Jerry McClaskey – oil painting titled Vigilant
- 3rd Place: Susan Metzger – batik/encaustic (processes that use wax and fabric) titled Clifton Camo Cows
Each of the winners received a monetary award provided by the Friends of the Library. At the reception, the Friends of the Library member Susan Konantz and Development Director Ami Schiffbauer were present to hand out awards and congratulate the winners. The Clifton Community Art Show is planned as an annual celebration of artistic creations inspired by Clifton. We look especially for artwork that represents Clifton, showing favorite places, people, and/or events in Clifton.
We hope to see your Clifton inspired submissions for next year’s Clifton Community Art Show!
