The Human Library® at Mesa County Libraries

Join the Human Library® for discussions that will explore and challenge stereotypes and offer opportunities to learn about one another through personal stories! Real people will be on loan and candid questions will be expected, appreciated, and answered.

The Human Library® is based on a Danish concept from 2000 and it is designed to build a positive framework for conversations that can address prejudices through dialogue. The event is now available in more than 80 countries and Mesa County Libraries will host our first Human Library® event to connect attendees with others who have diverse backgrounds, heritages, or lived experiences in order to create dialogue and promote a more profound understanding of diversity in our community. Attendees (Readers) will have the opportunity to converse with volunteers (Books) who will share their stories and answer questions during 30-minute reading sessions.

Linked below are two videos that provide a brief overview of a Human Library® event, though formats may differ among various events.
