Anticipated Titles of 2025

A great list of books can help kick off the new year and perhaps the following titles might appeal to your interests.  These books are anticipated to be popular in 2025:

The Three Lives of Cate Kay by Kate Fagan – January 7

The debut novel from sports journalist and author, Kate Fagan, The Three Lives of Cate Kay follows the story of a queer writer with a complex past whose success threatens to reveal her secrets.  Rather than let that story be told by others, Kate decides to tell her own story, including the sacrifices she made to become a successful writer.

We Do Not Part by Han Kang – January 21

Nobel Prize-winner, Han Kang writes about the complexities and intricacies of friendship and trauma.  Set during the Jeju Uprising in South Korea, Inseon becomes hospitalized and requests that her friend, Kyungha, care for her beloved pet bird. This seemingly simple request forces Kyungha into the conflict and agony of the uprising.  

Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros – January 21

The third installment in Yarros’ Empyrean series, the book features Violet, a small yet courageous dragon rider who ventures to war against the Venin, a race of humans who exchanged their souls for power. Violet learns that the reach of the Venin extends to the ranks of her military school, causing her to voyage beyond it, form new alliances, hone her powers, and forge a path to victory. 

The Crash by Freida McFadden – January 28

Freida McFadden returns and following the success of The Housemaid series, the novel’s lead character, Tegan, is pregnant and seeking escape from a chaotic life. Now injured and stranded in a blizzard with a pair of intimidating strangers, she must survive the storm and those who would cause her harm.  

Source Code: My Beginnings by Bill Gates – February 4

Known to the world as a titan of industry, billionaire, and philanthropist, this book explores the more personal side of Bill Gates, his childhood, upbringing, family, and interests. Checkout this book to learn more about his trials and tribulations, his discoveries and accomplishments, and his impact on the world of technology.  

Three Days in June by Anne Tyler – February 11

Anne Tyler, Pulitzer Prize winner, releases her 25th novel this February. The day before her daughter’s wedding, she also finds out that her soon-to-be son-in-law carries a secret that threatens to upend the wedding. The series of events that unfold in the book also reveal to Gail the unresolved issues of her divorce and force her to finally deal with them.

Strangers in Time: A World War 2 Novel by David Baldacci – April 15, 2025

Set in 1944 London, two teenagers and a book store owner unite over the losses they’ve experienced in World War II.  But when the secrets they harbor endanger their relationship and their lives, they find the key to their survival lies in their ability to trust one another.  

My Friends by Fredrik Backman – May 20

Swedish writer Fredrik Backman has become quite popular following his novels, A Man Called Ove and Beartown. His next book follows four teenage friends, a prominent painting, and a trip that unfolds across a nation and the span of 25 years.
