Seed Library Reopening

Mesa County Libraries Seed Library logo

To align with the upcoming gardening season, we will reopen the Mesa County Libraries Seed Library on March 4th to offer a variety of quality vegetable, fruit, flower, and herb seed packets. The Seed Library will be available at the Central Location during open hours, where each visitor is welcome to take up to three seed packets per month, free of charge. The Seed Library is a seasonal resource, and will remain open throughout the growing season while supplies last. A library card is not required.

The Seed Library has seen great momentum and recognition since its creation in 2022, ending the 2024 season with over 3,500 seed packets given away to novice and experienced gardeners within our community between March and August.  This would not have been possible without assistance from the Friends of the Mesa County Libraries, library volunteers, and generous seed donations provided by many community members and organizations.

If you are interested in donating to the Seed Library, please consider educating yourself on seed saving, and give it a try this season! View our Seed Saving Instructional brochure for more information on how to save seeds, or stay tuned to the Mesa County Libraries event calendar for upcoming seed saving and gardening programs. To donate seeds, please visit the Information Desk at the Central Library location and use a donation slip.
