The time has come, my three loyal readers. This will be Cinephile Femme’s final blog post here at Mesa County Libraries. In honor of this bittersweet occasion, I have compiled 10 of my very favorite closing lines in cinema history. They aren’t necessarily the most famous (see: “Louie, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship”), but they have all resonated and stuck with me.
1. “After all, tomorrow is another day.” — Gone With the Wind (1939)
2. “Well, nobody’s perfect.” — Some Like It Hot (1959)
3. “I was cured all right.” — A Clockwork Orange (1971)
4. “You have to have a little faith in people.” — Manhattan (1979)
5. “Why don’t we just wait here for a while… see what happens?” — The Thing (1982)
6. “I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?” — Stand By Me (1986)
7. “Sometimes you can still catch me dancing in it.” — Edward Scissorhands (1990)
8. “I’m having an old friend for dinner.” — The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
9. “And like that, he’s gone.” — The Usual Suspects (1995)
10. “Ernest Hemingway once wrote, ‘The world is a fine place and worth fighting for.’ I agree with the second part.” — Se7en (1995)
And, that does it for me. It’s been rapturous to post my little opinions here for the past three and a half years.
So long, and thanks for all the fish!
And thank you for sharing your vast knowledge of the cine-world with us!
Gulp. This post brings a lump to my throat. I’m going to miss you and your movie posts so much!
