Mesa County Libraries adjust pandemic restrictions

As Mesa County’s Free to Choose resolution takes effect April 16, Mesa County Libraries are adjusting some restrictions that have been in place during the coronavirus pandemic.

Among the changes are the following:

  • Patrons are asked to wear a mask while they visit the library unless they are alone or with members of their household in a meeting room. Library staff will continue to wear masks when outside of private offices.
  • Limited in-person programs are resuming at the libraries. Indoor events generally require pre-registration via the online Event Calendar, and attendees are required to wear masks during the events.
  • Users of public computers are limited to two hours of use, rather than one hour.
  • Patrons of the Central Library may use both the east and west entrances for entrance and exit. There are no more one-way doorways.
  • The Mesa and Monument community rooms at the Central Library and the community room at the Fruita Branch are available for public use. Capacity is limited. Please refer to the library website for more information.
  • The 970West Studio Live Room is expected to reopen for public use by reservation in June. Reservations will be accepted beginning in mid-May. The studio Control Room already is available for some public use.
  • Charges for copies and printouts, which were suspended during the pandemic, will resume May 3. Prices are 15 cents per side for black-and-white prints, and 70 cents per side for color prints (color available only at the Central Library or Clifton and Fruita branches).
  • Many virtual programs continue to be available online. For more information about specific events, please visit the Event Calendar. We also continue to offer a rich selection of online eResources, such as Kanopy, hoopla, OverDrive, and Libby. Please visit this page for more information about streaming and downloadable services.

Curbside Pick-Up of holds will continue. Patrons who do not wish to enter library buildings are encouraged to use Curbside Pick-Up. More information about Curbside Pick-Up is available here.

Mesa County Libraries have worked diligently during the pandemic to keep patrons and staff safe while providing as many services to the public as possible. Safety continues to be of utmost importance as our library community emerges from the pandemic. If you have questions, please call us at 970-243-4442 or visit mesacountylibraries.org.
