Explore Read-Alikes and Find Books You’ll Love

At Mesa County Libraries, helping you discover your next favorite book is one of our favorite things to do. In the library world, we call this special kind of matchmaking “reader’s advisory.” Whether you’re a longtime book lover or just getting back into reading, the staff at any of our eight locations are always ready to help you find something you’ll enjoy.

To make the most of your visit, it’s helpful if you let us know a few authors or books you’ve enjoyed in the past. From there, we can suggest similar writers or titles that match your taste. While providing reader’s advisory, we often work with lists of read-alikes – books and authors who share a similar style or theme. These recommendations may come from databases like NoveList (free to use with your library card!) or from the minds of our staff members, each with their own unique tastes and preferences.

We’ve included a few read-alike authors below to get the conversation started. Who’s your favorite? Let us know in the comments, and don’t be surprised if we recommend a new go-to author for your list! (Click on any author name below to be directed to their most recent book, available in the Mesa County Libraries catalog.)
