Mesa County Libraries Comic Con is seeking applications from people and businesses that have ideas for public workshops or would like to participate in the exhibitor fair at Comic Con. The event is scheduled for 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at Two Rivers Convention Center in Grand Junction. Workshops, presentations, and exhibits should be related to comics, sci-fi, fantasy, and any and all things nerdy.
In only its third year, Mesa County Libraries Comic Con has become one of the fastest growing events in the region. More than 3,000 people from across western Colorado attended last year’s Comic Con, and this year’s event has been moved to Two Rivers Convention Center to accommodate the large number of expected attendees. The special guest for this year’s Comic Con is Ian Doescher, author of the brilliantly entertaining “William Shakespeare’s Star Wars” book series.
If you’re interested in making a presentation, proposals are due by July 1, 2017, and can be submitted via an online form at mesacountylibraries.org/comiccon. All presentations and workshops will be one hour long.
If you’re interested in table or booth space, applications are due by July 31, 2017, and can be submitted via an online form at mesacountylibraries.org/comiccon. Exhibitors will set up at tables in a ballroom at Two Rivers Convention Center. One 8-foot table and two chairs will be provided. Space in the room is limited, and tables will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Exhibitors who sell items are asked to donate at least one item valued at $10-$20 as a gift prize for the Comic Con costume contest.
