Bargain book shoppers, mark your calendars! It’s almost time for the Friends of the Mesa County Libraries big annual book sale, Thursday, October 17th, through Saturday, October 19th, at the First Congregational Church of Grand Junction, located at 1425 N. 5th St. With thousands of used books in good condition, this is the Friends’ biggest sale of the year. Shoppers can also find used music CDs, movies on DVD, books on CD, and maybe even some vintage vinyl records!
For the first two days of the sale, hardbacks are priced at $2 each, paperbacks will be $1, and kids’ and teen books are only 25 cents each. And while shoppers will have the best selection to choose from earlier in the sale, bargain hunters will love the Saturday bag sale: bring a bag and fill it up for $5, or bring a box and fill it up for $10. If you do bring your own bag on Thursday and Friday, though, you’ll also get one book free!
All proceeds from the Friends’ book sales benefit Mesa County Libraries. This year, the Friends have supported the Seed Library and the Gardener in Residence, Summer Reading, Comic Con, Culture Fest, and prizes for the poetry contest and each of the art show contests the library hosts throughout the year, along with our upcoming Human Library and author events the first weekend of October. Additionally, the Friends have contributed over $50,000 to the new Clifton Branch over the past three years.
As a committee of the Mesa County Libraries Foundation, the Friends support, sustain, and enhance Mesa County Libraries’ efforts to enrich lives and build community with their fundraising efforts.
