If you haven’t driven by the site of the new Mesa County Libraries Clifton Branch near the intersection of D½ and 32½ roads recently, here’s an update of what’s been going on since we broke ground at the end of August:
- Work on preparing the ground to start pouring concrete for the foundation progressed smoothly through September and most of October. Inclement weather at the end of October and beginning of November put construction about a week behind schedule, but the teams from FCI Constructors and Mays Concrete are working to get us back on schedule.
- Thanks to Xcel Energy, we have temporary power at the site!
- Work on the foundation is going well, and the site has passed all inspections so far. The foundation slab should be poured by the end of 2022.
- We plan to host a beam-signing party in mid to late January to celebrate the completion of the foundation and the beginning of the next phase of construction: walls! More details about this celebration will be announced at the beginning of 2023.
The new Clifton Branch is expected to open in August 2023.
